El Cerrito Police Department Blotter February 4th to February 7th 2022.    


The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
February 8th
 
Vehicle Burglary / Identity Theft – 500 block of Liberty St
At 8:15AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s vehicle by breaking out the right rear quarter window, and stole a wallet. 
 
Residential Burglary – 300 block of Pomona Ave
At 9:34AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered the vacant house under remodel by breaking the lockbox and retrieving the house key.  The suspect stole $8000 worth of tools belonging to the contractor, sometime between 1600 hours on 2/7/2022 and 0800 hours on 2/8/2022.
 
Petty Theft – 2000 block of Harper St
At 11:30AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole a package off the porch containing prescription medication, sometime between 5:51PM – 6:15PM on 2/7/2022.
 
Shoplift / Possession of Controlled Substance – 11299 San Pablo Ave (Gina Beauty):
At 1:30PM, an officer reports a 33 year old transient woman stole hair products.  The suspect was located at Potrero Ave and S.55th St., trying to pedal her bicycle while pushing a shopping cart, and she was detained.  The call was originally reported as a robbery by the store owner, but the store video did not support her claim.  The suspect was also found to be in possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine.  The arrested woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then released on a citation.
 
Shoplift – 10759 San Pablo Ave (Marshall’s):
At 6:34PM, an officer reports two unknown suspects entered the business and stole handbags; the crime occurred two days earlier.
 
February 9th
 
Residential Burglary – 600 block of Clayton Ave
At 8:57AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the vacant residence under remodel by unknown means, and stole tools worth over $8000, sometime between 5PM on 2/7/2022 and 8:30AM on 2/8/2022.
 
Theft of Identifying Information – 10422 San Pablo Ave (Bank of America)
At 9:23AM, an officer reports the victim went to the Bank of America ATMs on 2/4/2022, approximately noon, and attempted to make a withdrawal.  The first machine would only allow a $20 withdrawal, the second machine refused to accept the victim’s card, and the third machine finally allowed the $1000 withdrawal.  The victim later discovered an unauthorized charge on his account for over $1200 and he believed there was a skimmer installed in the ATMs at the time he attempted to use them.  B of A was notified but said there was no evidence of a skimmer.
 
Domestic Violence Restraining Order Violation – 6495 Portola Dr
At 4:30PM, an officer reports the victim came to the police department lobby to report her ex, a 54 year old Richmond man, showed up at her apartment in violation of a restraining order.  The man let himself in using a key he had from when he also lived there.  The suspect made vaguely threatening statements toward the victim, and the victim fled the apartment and ran to the police department.  A copy of the latest served criminal protective order was received from the issuing agency.  Officers attempted contact with the suspect at the apartment, but he was no longer there.
 
February 10th

Organized Retail Theft - 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
At 2:37PM, an officer reports three suspects entered Ross, selected armfuls of clothing totaling $450 and fled the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise.  Suspect #1 was described as a black male in his 40’s, wearing a yellow SFMTA vest and a hat.  Suspect #2 was described as a black female in her mid-30’s, heavy-set, wearing a dark grey hoodie and sweatpants.  Suspect #3 was described as a black female in her late 40’s, wearing sunglasses, light grey hoodie and sweatpants.  Unknown direction of flight after the suspects went out the front doors.
