On Sunday, February 13, 2022 at approximately 0011 hours, the Readington Township Police stopped Herman Callands (59) out of Poughkeepsie, New York. Callands was parked and walking around the parking lot off a closed business off Route 22. While the officer was speaking to Callands he observed a gun in the front passenger door pocket. Callands was detained at the time and another gun was located inside the vehicle, a prohibited weapon and two open containers of an alcoholic beverage. Callands was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon and device, possession of an open container and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. The filing of charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
