PRESS RELEASE - Carjacking and Discharge of a Firearm. Vehicle and weapons recovered.
At 11:58 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2022, the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) responded to the 2800 block of Homestead Road to investigate a carjacking. According to the victim and witness, one of three male suspects discharged a firearm into the air and took the victim’s vehicle. After taking possession of the vehicle, the suspects fled the scene. Fortunately, nobody was injured during the incident.
During the investigation at the scene, SCPD recovered spent shell casings.
With the assistance of the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies located the stolen vehicle on the 29000 block of Marshall Road in Gustine, CA. They contacted three males matching the victim and witness description. SCPD detectives obtained and executed a search warrant of the residence and stolen vehicle. In doing so, SCPD officers and Merced County Sheriff deputies located items belonging to the victim, seized two loaded firearms and recovered the stolen vehicle.
This incident remains an active investigation. As a result, no additional details can be shared at this time.
