The Maple Shade Police Department is accepting applications for the position of School Crossing Guards.
Candidates for the position of school crossing guard in New Jersey must possess the following qualifications per FHWA MUTCD Section 7D.03 and N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.1.
Must possess a valid NJ driver's license and/or have the ability to get to and from work in a moment's notice.

The Maple Shade Police Department is accepting applications for the position of School Crossing Guards.
Candidates for the position of school crossing guard in New Jersey must possess the following qualifications per FHWA MUTCD Section 7D.03 and N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.1.
- Is a citizen and resident of this state;
- Is sound in body and of good health;
- Is a good moral character; and
- Has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude
- Average intelligience
- Good physical condition, including sight, hearing, and ability to move and maneuver quickly in order to avoid danger from errant vehicles;
- Ability to control a STOP paddle effectively to provide approaching road users with a clear, fully direct view of the paddle's STOP message during the entire crossing movement;
- Ability to recognize potentially dangerous traffic situations and warn and manage students in sufficient time to avoid injury;
- Mental alertness;
- Next appearance;
- Good character;
- Dependability; and
- An overall sense of responsibility for the safety of the students.
Must possess a valid NJ driver's license and/or have the ability to get to and from work in a moment's notice.
