NWS - LaCrosse...A multi-day winter storm system will result in travel impacts across the region this afternoon through Tuesday with a wintry mix to snow impacting the area.
The threat for freezing drizzle will be on the increase this afternoon, with freezing rain and sleet looking likely tonight south of I-90. North of there, snow is expected. The wintry mix continues in the south early Tuesday morning, but transitions to snow by noon. Snow continues north of I-90.
Adjustments to what precipitation type falls where, and how much, could still change - so keep up on the latest forecast.
Summary:
- What: Periods of wintry mix/freezing drizzle and accumulating snow
- North of I-90: mainly snow with several inches possible. Bulk of the snow falls Tue.
- South of I-90: wintry mix likely later this afternoon, persisting tonight, transition to snow later Tue morning. Icing up to 1/10" possible - mostly tonight.
- Impacts: Road conditions could quickly deteriorate shortly after onset of precipitation, especially in areas of freezing rain. Secondary roads could become treacherous or impassable if untreated. Commute(s) may be impacted.
