Update: Monterey Road between Leavesley Road/Welburn Avenue and Pierce Street has been reopened. 
**Update February 21, 2022, 9:05 p.m.**
The roadway has been reopened.
On February 21, 2022, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Gilroy Police Department, the Gilroy Fire Department, and Rural Metro Ambulance responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle traffic collision at Monterey Road and Pierce Street.
Upon arrival, a male adult motorcycle rider was found to have sustained serious injuries. The rider was transported to a local trauma center and is expected to survive.
The driver of the other vehicle remained on-scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
Gilroy Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
