Re: Sewer Plant Capital Charge
On December 7, 2021, the Altamont Village Board passed a Local Law amending the Village code and adopting an increase in the Sewer Service Capital Charge from $45 to $100 per unit. This increase was approved after budget workshops in March 2021, public notice in November 2021 and a Public Hearing on December 7, 2021. The fee change will be reflected on the April 2022 sewer billing to residents and non-residents who receive sewer service.
No one welcomes an increase in user fees no matter how small. The fee increase was necessary because costs to operate the sewer facility are greater than the revenues the Village is bringing in for the service. The increased operating costs have been a challenge that could only be addressed through a uniform fee increase.
