Sheriff Canine Team Demonstration at Community Meeting
On February 13, 2022, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was invited to attend the Armed Women of America (Mother Lode Chapter) to share dialogue regarding firearms safety and conduct a demonstration of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Canine Program. The well attended meeting was held at the Veterans Halls in Valley Springs.
Sheriff DiBasilio began the presentation by introducing the department's two canine teams, Sergeant Moser with partner Nox and Deputy Jericoff with partner Storm.   Sheriff DiBasilio continued with a discussion regarding the canine program and funding sources (donations, general fund, etc.).
Sergeant Jim Moser covered the canine team's training regiment (minimum of 16 hrs. per month), statistics, certificates and capabilities.  After the general presentation and fielding questions, the demonstration focused on showcasing the Canine Teams' capabilities with a display of their skills.  The canine teams showcased handler protection and the detection of narcotics.
The Sheriff’s Office strives to work with our citizens on the importance of community-oriented policing to enhance the overall safety of our community. Sheriff DiBasilio would like to thank the membership for their hospitality and support.
Please contact Lieutenant Greg Stark (209) 754-6783 if you are interested in hosting a community event that involves any Sheriff’s Office programs.
