US 550 MOUNTAIN CORRIDOR TO REMAIN CLOSED OVERNIGHT
The US 550 mountain corridor will remain closed through tonight. The closure includes three passes - Coal Bank, Molas and Red Mountain, south and north of Silverton. Due to the current adverse weather conditions and poor visibility, avalanche mitigation crews have been called off the passes for safety. An additional 14 inches of snow is expected today, plus another 8-10 inches forecasted for tonight. Crews are set to conduct avalanche mitigation on all three passes first thing tomorrow morning. Operations will likely continue through much of the day.
**CR 110 and CR 2 are experiencing adverse weather conditions. Driving is not reccomended out of Silverton.**
