Full Notification

On 02/23/2022, deputies from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of US HWY 150 and N Grissom Pl in northwestern Vigo County regarding a single vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arriving on scene, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased by Trans-Care and New Goshen Fire personnel.  Initial investigation appears that the driver was traveling eastbound at an excessive speed when the vehicle left the roadway. The driver appears to have over-corrected and driven across US HWY 150, down an embankment, striking thick vegetation and ultimately impacting a tree in the passenger door. The driver was wearing seat belt restraints at the time of the accident. The driver’s name is not being released at this time pending family notification.
