Advisory

Snow/sleet mix across our region late tonight into Friday morning, dangerous travel conditions throughout the day.

A regional low pressure system will bring with it a wintry mix of snow & sleet late tonight into Friday. The Friday morning commute will most likely be impacted, including difficult and dangerous travel.

Modeling indicates that precipitation will begin in the wee hours overnight into Friday morning.  At that time the temperature will be below freezing.  Friday morning, as the precipitation continues, the temperature will rise slightly above freezing causing a mix of snow & sleet.  It is very likely that the Friday morning commute will be affected, and possibly the evening commute as well. The chance of precipitation is predicted near 100%. Precipitation will continue into Friday afternoon.  Temperatures will drop well below freezing Friday evening and overnight into Saturday.  Total accumulation predicted is 3-5” of dense snow sleet mix.

Be prepared & plan ahead! Remain off the roadways as much as possible.  Monitor weather forecasts and plan your commute accordingly. Expect a longer commute if that is your choice.  Our Highway Department is prepared and has treated the roadways.  Please be patient, considerate and conscious of their efforts to plow and treat the roadways for all of our safety.  Do not plow or deposit snow on the public roadways.

Con Ed customers can report downed power lines, outages, and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).

Please do not call the Police Department to report loss of power. This potentially ties up telephone lines available for emergencies and you will be referred to contact Con Ed directly. Treat all downed wires as if they are live. Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by tree limbs, leaves, or snow.

In the event of life threatening emergencies, dial 911. Call North Castle Police at 914-273-9500 for any non-life threatening matters, traffic issues, downed trees, etc.
