#2nd UPDATE LASD Homicide Responding to a Deputy-Involved Shooting Investigation, 14500 Blk of Chere Dr, #Norwalk
The investigation continues into the Norwalk Station area deputy-involved shooting where the driver drove in reverse and struck a deputy with his vehicle before ramming a patrol car.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Adrian Romero. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, and will be booked upon his release from the hospital.
The third occupant of the vehicle was identified as 21-year-old Aldo Romero, brother of Adrian Romero. Investigators later learned Aldo fled from the vehicle and was detained in a backyard by concerned residents. He was armed with a loaded semiautomatic handgun which was concealed in his waistband. He was arrested for a Vehicle Theft Warrant, and additionally booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm, booking #6330554.
The female was determined to be a passenger in the vehicle; however, she was not arrested.

**UPDATE**
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting in Unincorporated Whittier.
Deputies from Norwalk Station attempted to contact occupants of a blue sedan parked in the driveway of a home in the 14500 block of Chere Drive knowing an auto theft suspect to be inside at 2:37 PM Wednesday.
As the deputies approached the parked vehicle, the driver drove the sedan backward toward the deputies. A deputy involved shooting occurred. The sedan continued in reverse, ramming a black and white patrol car parked behind it.
The driver and occupants fled in the sedan, crashing into a wall before the sedan became disabled in the middle of the intersection of Telegraph Road and Armsdale Avenue. A female passenger was detained at the vehicle while two males fled on foot but taken into custody nearby.
The female, a Hispanic woman in her early twenties, sustained gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released.
A 20 year old Hispanic man, believed to be the driver, sustained gunshot wounds to the leg. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The third occupant, a 21 year old Hispanic man wanted for auto theft, was taken into custody. He was not injured. A loaded handgun was recovered from his person.
One deputy who was struck by the sedan was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are responding to a deputy involved shooting investigation. The incident was reported on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at approximately 2:37 p.m., on the 14500 block of Chere Drive in the city of Norwalk.
All three suspects were taken into custody.
Two suspects were struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Whenever a deputy-involved shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies, and a person is struck by gunfire, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department immediately notifies the Office of the Inspector General who sends a representative to the incident scene and provides independent oversight throughout the investigative process. Once concluded, a preliminary review is conducted by the Critical Incident Review Panel to determine whether any immediate actions are warranted. Every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee. Input from Constitutional Policing Advisors is provided during the process. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Justice System Integrity Division, conducts a legal analysis to determine whether any criminal charges will be filed and if the shooting was legally justified.
