Reports of a Man Shooting a Gun in His Front Yard Lead Deputies to Discovery of Guns and 2400 Pounds of Marijuana
DATE/TIME: Friday, February 25, 2022, at 12:20 p.m.
INCIDENT: Willful Discharge of Firearm in Negligent Manner, Possession of Marijuana
LOCATION: 13600 block of Wilson Ranch Road, Phelan
SUSPECT: Jose Meza-Gomez, 47 year-old resident of Phelan
SUMMARY: On Friday, February 25, 2022, at 1220 p.m., deputies responded to reported shots fired in the 13600 block of Wilson Ranch Road, Phelan. Deputies received information a male subject, later identified as Jose Meza-Gomez, was shooting a firearm from the front yard of his residence. During the investigation deputies located multiple fired cartridge cases from multiple caliber weapons. The occupants of the residence were detained, and a search warrant was authored.
Upon service of the warrant, an AR-15 rifle, a handgun, rifle ammunition, and approximately 2,400 pounds of processed marijuana were located inside the residence. The Narcotics Division’s Marijuana Team responded to assist in the investigation and destruction of the marijuana. Meza-Gomez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center and is being held on $50,000 bail.
