| On March 2, 2022, four suspects conspired to commit a residential burglary of an occupied residence in the 800 block of Corte La Cienega in the city of Camarillo. After a lengthy vehicle pursuit from Camarillo to Van Nuys, deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office worked together with officers from the Los Angeles Police Department to arrest two of the suspects in the area of the 15000 block of Victory Boulevard. On March 2, 2022, deputies with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) obtained information leading them to believe a crew of South American Theft Group members were in the city of Camarillo for the purposes of committing a residential burglary. SEU deputies notified the Advanced Real Time Information Center (ARTIC) of the information and requested to have patrol deputies from the Camarillo Station respond to the area. As Camarillo patrol deputies were responding, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence in the 800 block of Corte La Cienega stating unknown suspects were inside the house. Patrol deputies responded to the residence and confirmed a residential burglary had occurred. Camarillo patrol deputies observed a vehicle leaving the area of the burglary and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield, and a prolonged vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit traveled from Ventura County to Los Angeles County, where an LAPD airship was able to track the vehicle’s movements. In the beginning stages of the pursuit, the suspects threw a duffle bag out of the vehicle. An alert member of the community observed this and directed deputies to the location of the duffle bag. The duffle bag contained burglary tools consistent with the types of tools used to force entry into residences. Later in the pursuit, the suspect vehicle collided with another uninvolved vehicle, causing moderate damage to the right fender area of the suspect vehicle. Shortly after the traffic collision, the vehicle came to a stop in the 6400 block of Gaviota Place in Van Nuys, where four occupants of the vehicle immediately fled on foot. LAPD officers were able to immediately arrest one of the passengers, who was later identified as (S) Lorenzo Galvez Valdivieso. A short time later, LAPD officers and Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate and arrest a second suspect a short distance away from the abandoned vehicle. The second suspect was later identified as (S) Enrico Francesco Martinez. After an exhaustive search of the area, officers and deputies were unable to locate the remaining two suspects. Lorenzo Valdivieso was determined to be a Chilean National, who had recently been arrested in Anaheim for a similar incident. Enrico Francesco Martinez was also determined to be a Chilean National. Valdivieso and Martinez were both booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for conspiracy to commit residential burglary, resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer, and possession of fraudulent government documents. They are both currently in custody with bail set at $250,000 and their arraignment is scheduled for March 4, 2022. |
