Unpermitted Boarding Home Shut Down in Crosby Area, Nine Residents Relocated

March 4, 2022 – The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office (HCFMO) and the Harris County Sherriff's Office (HCSO) found nine residents living in an unpermitted boarding home located in the 500 block of Cypress Avenue, Crosby, Texas. The residents were found living in deplorable conditions and transported from the unpermitted boarding home to Memorial Herman North East for observation.

HCFMO and the HCSO Boarding Home Detail transported the occupants out of the unsafe environment. HCFMO is seeking a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to ban this location from operating as a boarding home.

The unpermitted boarding home had apparent mold, torn walls, clutter, and bed bug infestation. Investigators also found locked doors. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office and Harris County Sheriff’s Office rely on residents to report abuse when they see the signs of a bad boarding home operator on their block. If residents see something happening in their community, we urge them to say something. Report illegal boarding homes to [email protected].
