Suspect Leads Deputies on a Foot Pursuit in Grand Terrace Before Being Arrested for a Felony Warrant

SUSPECT(S): John Gomez, 50-year-old Male, Resident of Grand Terrace, CA
                        John Paul Gomez, 20-year-old Male, Resident of Grand Terrace, CA

SUMMARY: Sheriff's Central Station has a dedicated School Resource Officer assigned to Grand Terrace High School.  On April 22, 2021, Deputy B. Ortiz began an investigation at Grand Terrace High School.  John Gomez was identified as a suspect who vandalized the high school’s baseball field.  Gomez was also suspected of threatening a school employee and stealing the identity of a different school employee.  The case was submitted to the District Attorney's Office who filed charges against Gomez and issued a felony arrest warrant in June of 2021.  

On Saturday, March 5, 2022, Deputies F. Ancona, and C. Arana located Gomez at Grand Terrace High School and attempted to arrest him for the outstanding arrest warrant.  Gomez led deputies on a foot pursuit before being captured and arrested.  During the arrest, John Paul Gomez interfered with the arrest.  John Paul Gomez was also arrested at the scene.

John Gomez was arrested on two felony warrants and for obstruction of his arrest.  John Gomez was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and bailed out of custody. John Paul Gomez was booked into the Central Detention Center and released on his own recognizance.
