Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred Thirtieth Update, Monday, March 7, 2022
In a press release, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy reported today that there were 16 new positive cases yesterday and that the County’s COVID-19 pandemic total is now at 62,273 positive cases. The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases increased from 36 to now 39.2 cases.
County DOH reported that there was one COVID-19 hospitalization overnight and that the number of hospitalized County residents decreased by three to now 20 patients. There are still two patients in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 531.
State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.2% of the County’s total population and 89.7% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 73.8% for the total population. The State’s rate for one dose was 89.1% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 75.7% for the total population.
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 71,660 tests Statewide were 1,013 or 1.4% positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 1.5%. The Capital Region had 2,736 tests of which 75 or 2.7% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 2.7%. The County had 742 tests of which 13 or 1.8% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 2.6%.
Governor Hochul announced today that the State’s positive rate for tests was 1.41%, and that daily rate has been below 2% for 11 consecutive days. Other COVID-19 data included new hospitalizations (1,520, +13), new admissions (128), ICU patients (258,-11), intubations (139, 0), and deaths (17).
As we near (hopefully) the end of the pandemic, CDC reports that the nation has had 79,094,974 positive cases with 955,958 deaths. The CDC also reports that about 65.1% of the nation’s total population is fully vaccinated and 44.1% is boosted. For adults, the numbers are 75.1% and 47.5%.
The Red Cross is holding a blood drive at Town Hall on Friday, March 18 from Noon to 6pm. For a limited time, the Red Cross is testing all donations for COVID-19 antibodies, and all donors will also receive, by email, a $10 gift card from Fanatics, a sports merchandise company.
