As part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, there will be a statewide tornado drill at 10 a.m. today.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the drill by practicing your tornado safety plan at home or at your business. Identify the sturdiest inner most room of your structure to shelter in place.

Prep for a real tornado event. Tornadoes can be deadly. Missouri averages 32 tornadoes each year. Peak tornado months are April to June. The most tornadoes ever recorded in one year in Missouri was 102 (2006).

NOTE: Today's drill will take the place of the March siren test.
