INCIDENT: Attempted Residential Burglary
LOCATION: 3400 block of Ribworty Road, Rosena Ranch
SUSPECT(S): Robbie Shumate, 33-years-old, resident of Escondido, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Friday, March 4, 2022, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Fontana Station responded to several 9-1-1 calls involving a suspicious male adult attempting to break into homes. Deputies arrived within minutes and were flagged down by residents advising there was a white male adult acting erratic. The residents also told deputies the subject was attempting to kick in front doors and jumping over fences.
Deputies quickly set up a perimeter and requested the assistance of Sheriff's Aviation, 40 King. As deputies closed in on the subject, later identified as Robert Shumate, he attempted to flee and ran into a steep wash area. Deputies located Shumate and took him into custody without incident. Deputies conducted a neighborhood check and contacted several witnesses and victims.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Shumate was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
There were several homeowners that were not present during the investigation, therfore his booking photo is being released to the public in an effort to locate additional witnesses and victims related to this investigation.
