Suspects: Tyler Suit (29-year-old Petaluma resident)
On 03/09/2022, Petaluma Officer Ron Flores observed a suspicious vehicle parked and unoccupied in the 600 block of Western Avenue. He noticed from prior investigations that this vehicle matched the description of vehicle’s commonly stolen by Tyler Suit. Suit was wanted in connection with multiple vehicle thefts, evading police and possession of an unlawful weapon.
At approximately 4:45 PM, Officer Flores observed Suit getting into the suspicious vehicle and attempted to contact him. As the officer approached the vehicle, Suit fled on foot and began to run through various residences through side gates and by jumping over backyard fences. Suit ran several blocks and through a nearby school.
Several Petaluma officers responded to the scene and set up a perimeter. Suit continued to flee from several officers on foot until he was surrounded at an address on Brainerd Drive. Suit was taken into custody after he surrendered. Suit was found to be in possession of an amount of methamphetamine when he was searched incident to arrest. No injuries occurred during the incident.
Suit has been the suspect of several on-going investigations and is suspected of fleeing from police on multiple occasions. He had several warrants issued for his arrest and is believed to have been involved with several vehicles being stolen in the Petaluma area.
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the community members who alerted the police to the direction Suit was fleeing from officers.
Suit was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for several felony and misdemeanor warrants, along with obstructing an officer, felon in possession of ammunition and possession of a controlled substance.
