New Safe Passing Law (Follow Link for Further Information)

As of March 3rd of this year, New Jersey has passed the new Safe Passing Law.  This law requires drivers to use "due caution" whenever motorist pass people sharing the road on foot, bicycles, scooters, wheelchairs or in any other legally permitted way to travel other than a motor vehicle. Therefore, drivers must do the following:

-Drivers must follow all current no passing, no speeding laws, and move over a lane if there's one to move to.
-On a single-lane road, drivers must allow at least a 4 foot safety zone when they pass.
-If a 4 foot zone is not possible on a section of road, drivers must slow to 25 miles an hour and be prepared to stop until they can pass safely without endangering those sharing the road.

As spring approaches and more residents are out and about, lets take the time to share the roads in town and make it a safe place for all.  Thank you.
