Suspect Arrested in Adelanto After He Brandished a Firearm at Another Motorist

LOCATION: Racoon Avenue/ Apache Road, Adelanto
VICTIM: 27-year-old male adult
SUSPECT: Luke Smith, 28-years-old, resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 7:30am, deputies responded to a 911 call in Adelanto. According to the victim, he was travelling northbound on Raccoon Avenue, near Apache Road, when he made a U-turn. The driver in a vehicle behind him, identified as Luke Smith, began screaming obscenities at the victim and brandished a firearm.
The suspect vehicle was described as a red Kia Rio. Deputy Anthony Cornejo located the vehicle and found a loaded firearm inside. Smith was arrested for brandishing a weapon and booked at High Desert Detention Center. Smith was later cite released and is due to appear in San Bernardino County Superior Court on June 1, 2022, at 8:00am.
