On the evening of March 8, 2022, four cargo containers loaded with scrap metal were stolen from the 100-block of Industrial Street in Bakersfield.
On March 9, 2022, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Kern County Auto Theft Taskforce, located and recovered all four stolen containers and the stolen trailers used to transport them. Two of the stolen containers were located at a truck stop in the area of Bear Mountain Boulevard and Highway 99. Detectives located the other two stolen trailers in an industrial area near Merle Haggard Drive and Highway 99. All of the stolen scrap metal was recovered during this investigation. The total value of the recovered property was over $250,000.
