Narrative:

On March 8, 2022, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into Christopher Davis and Rachel Cass, who were suspected of narcotics sales in the unincorporated area north of Ventura.

During the month of February 2022, PCU detectives received information that Davis and Cass were selling fentanyl and methamphetamine out of their residence. Detectives conducted surveillance on the subjects and observed them conduct narcotics transactions.

On March 8, 2022, PCU and VCAT detectives served a search warrant at the residence and arrested Davis and Cass. During a search of the house, detectives discovered an operational clandestine drug laboratory in one of the bedrooms that was being used to produce a hallucinogenic drug known as DMT (Dimethyltryptamine).
Due to the dangerous chemicals located at the scene, the Ventura City Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department responded with their HAZMAT units to ensure the safety of the local community. A regional narcotics lab task force out of the Los Angeles area (LA IMPACT) was requested because of their specialization in investigation and evidence collection of clandestine drug labs. In addition to the drug lab, detectives seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, US Currency, and other evidence indicative of drug sales.
Davis and Cass were charged with 11351 HS- Possession for Sales of a Controlled Substance, 11379.6 HS- Manufacturing of Narcotics and Controlled Substances, and 182 PC- Conspiracy. Both subjects were booked into the Ventura County Jail. Davis was released after posting $50,000 bail and has an arraignment set for March 23, 2022, in Ventura County Superior Court. Cass remains in custody on $50,000 bail and has an arraignment set for March 10, 2022.
