Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 03/12/2022 at approximately 1630 hours, his office was called to investigate a two vehicle personal injury crash on Redfield St west of Conrad Rd, Milton Twp, Cass County Michigan. 

Initial investigation shows that 31-Year Old White Pigeon resident, Kyle Mays, was traveling east on Redfield St when he lost control of his vehicle due to a patch of ice. Mays vehicle turned sideways and went into the west bound lane of traffic, where he was stuck by the vehicle traveling west on Redfield St.  The driver of the second vehicle was 17-Year Old Granger resident Louis Lovechio. Passengers in the second vehicle also included 17-Year Old Granger resident, Alexander Gerard, 17-Year Old Granger resident, Anthony Tirotta and 16-Year Old Granger resident, Micah Stover. Mays was evaluated on scene and transported to Elkhart General Hospital by SMCAS emergency medical personnel, for non-life threatening injuries. Gerard was also evaluated by SMCAS emergency medical personnel, but family choose to transport him to the hospital. Seatbelts were worn and air bags were deployed. Drugs and Alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash.
