I greatly appreciate your support for the Transfer Station’s efforts to collect small change and other donations for the benefit of the Guilderland Food Pantry.  Over the past 94 weeks and continuing, you have donated $6,795 to date, which provides for over 1,000 meals for families in need.   I thank Transfer Station Foreman Dave Corey and his crew for starting this generous initiative in the early weeks of the pandemic when there was “hygiene theater,” with concern about becoming infected with COVID by making change or other contact.  You can also help at-risk families by considering a monetary or food donation to the Pantry.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated.  You can also drop off non-perishable and other needed items at the Pantry located at 4 Charles Boulevard.

A reminder that for the month of March the Guilderland Hannaford has selected the Guilderland High School Backpack Program as the recipient of Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag Program.  A donation of $1 is made to the GHS Backpack program for every “Fight Hunger” reusable grocery bag purchased.  The GHS Backpack program provides six easy-to-prepare weekend meals on Friday afternoons to students.  A weekend’s meal costs about $6 and about $185 for a full school year. You can also make food and monetary donations or volunteer to help pack the meals.

I hope that you are enjoying a relaxing weekend.

Thank you for staying safe and calm.
