Newark Community Non-Profit Service Organizations Needs Assessment Survey is Still Open
Newark Community Non-Profit Service Organizations Needs Assessment Survey
Dear Community Organizations:
On March 11, 2021, the Federal Government passed the American Rescue Plan Act, commonly referred to as “ARPA”, a $1.9 trillion relief package aimed to stimulate the economy. Under ARPA, the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) was established to provide aid to various governmental agencies throughout the Nation. The sum of $11.8 million was awarded to the City of Newark. The Newark City Council held a work session on October 7, 2021, to discuss options to spend the City of Newark’s $11.8 million allocation. The Council solicited input from the public and provided feedback to City staff. The final City of Newark ARPA Recovery Plan was adopted by the Council on October 28.
The City of Newark has allocated $300,000 to be distributed to various Newark non-profit agencies within the next three years. The City acknowledges that many non-profit agencies have been unable to raise funds as a result of the pandemic and that the pandemic has caused disproportionate impacts on certain segments of our community.
We ask that you please complete the survey below to help us determine how a non-profit grant process should be developed. Your input will help us in determining how the $300,000 should be spent to support Newark’s non-profit agencies during these challenging times.
