Roselle, NJ (March 14, 2022) – Roselle Police arrest Roselle man for a fatal hit and run crash that resulted in the death of a Hillside man and serious non-life-threatening injuries to a Pennsylvania female.
On August 03, 2021, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Troy Edwards, 53, was driving a 2007 Kia Spectra as he made a left turn heading north, across St George Ave, onto Garden Drive, when it collided with a 2012 Audi Q5 that was traveling west on St George Ave. After the crash, Edwards fled the scene on foot. Front seat passenger of the Spectra, Robert Tucker Jr, 60, died as a result of life-threatening injuries sustained from the crash, and the rear-seat passenger in the Spectra, Amanda Cantrell, 36, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigations, lead investigators of the Roselle Police Traffic Safety Unit and the Roselle Detective Bureau, with the assistance of Union County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit, Linden Police Department Traffic Bureau, and the Union County Homicide Task Force led to Edwards being charged with second degree leaving the scene of a crash which resulted in a death and third degree leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in serious injuries.
“The Borough Council and I share the sadness the Tucker family feels with the death of Robert Tucker Jr., and we offer condolences to his family. Thank you to all who have led or assisted in this investigation as we are one step closer in achieving justice for the Tucker Family," said Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw. "Our prayers for justice and peace continue.”
“My sincerest condolences go out to the Tucker family as you continue to mourn the loss of your loved one” – Roselle Police Chief Stacey L. Williams “We will now seek to bring this defendant to justice for his alleged actions, in hopes of bringing some comfort to the Tucker family.”
