City of Kodiak Public Works responded to a water line break around 9:00 a.m. this morning in the area of Upper Mill Bay and Kashevaroff Ave. During this activity, water system customers may have or have experienced discolored water.  All water in the mains is treated and disinfected. While the discolored water is aesthetically unpleasant it meets all State and Federal Drinking Water Standards.
 
If you experience discolored water turn on the cold water tap in your bathtub or another fixture without an aerator and let the water run until it clears.  Avoid using your washing machine until you have clear tap water.
