During the week of February 14, 2022, Detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department's Special Investigations Unit began an investigation into sales of fentanyl and heroin that were occurring both in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. 

On March 17th, the investigation concluded with a service of arrest and search warrants at an apartment in the 6600 block of Variel Ave. in Canoga Park, CA. SIU Detectives seized the following evidence and property at the location:
2.25 pounds of fentanyl powder
2.9 pounds of methamphetamine
3 ounces of heroin
4.6 ounces of psilocybin (“shrooms”)
A small amount of prescription pills (adderal and oxycodone)
A loaded 40 caliber Glock handgun
$23, 535.00 in cash

Joshua Edenfield, a 32 year old Los Angeles resident was arrested for violations of 182 PC (Conspiracy), two counts of 11351 H&S and one count of 11378 H&S (Possession of drugs with intent to sell), 11370.1 H&S (Possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of drugs), and 29800(a)(1) PC (Felon in possession of a firearm). 

Riana Ward, a 34 year old Los Angeles resident was arrested for violations of 182 PC (Conspiracy), 11351 H&S and 11378 H&S (Possession of drugs with intent to sell), and two counts of 11352 H&S (Sales of controlled substances). 
Both suspects were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for the above listed charges.
