El Cerrito Police Department Blotter March 11th to March 13th 2022

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
March 11th
 
Vehicle Theft – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave.
Sometime between March 8th and March 11th, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1998 Ford van. 
 
Forgery – 11299 San Pablo Ave. 
At 4:30 pm, a known suspect entered the check cashing business with a forged check and attempted to cash it. 
 
Grand Theft – 400 block of Village Drive;
At 7:41 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had a package stolen off of a front porch two days earlier. 
 
Vandalism – 10300 block of San Pablo Avenue;
At 7:26 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had broken the windshield on the victim’s vehicle sometime during the previous hour. 
 
Stolen Vehicle – 5900 block of Cutting Blvd;
At 8:15 pm an officer was flagged down by the victim of a stolen vehicle.  The victim was selling their car and made plans to meet the suspect in a parking lot of a business.  The suspect handed the victim an envelope full of money and got into the car and drove away before the victim counted the money.  The victim attempted to follow the stolen vehicle in another vehicle but the vehicle that the suspect had arrived in and driven by another suspect blocked his path.  Someone in the backseat of the suspect vehicle pointed a handgun at the victim.  When the victim looked at the money in the envelope they found it was counterfeit currency. 
 
March 12th
 
Vandalism – 11344 San Pablo Avenue (Denny’s);
At 12:16 am an officer was sent to the report that someone had shattered a window on the victim’s vehicle sometime in the last hour while it was parked in the parking lot. 
 
Vandalism – 11687 San Pablo Ave. 
At 6:30 am, a passerby notified police of a shattered window at the business.  When contact was made with the owners later in the day, officers learned the vandalism occurred at 4 am on the morning of March 11th
 
Grand Theft – 1100 block of Liberty St. 
Sometime between 3/11 at 5 pm and 3/12 at 10 am, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2002 Honda Odyssey. 
 
Shoplifting, Parole Violation – 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1:35 pm, an officer was flagged down by employees at CVS regarding a theft of alcohol.  Officers detained the suspect, a 40-year-old transient man.  The bottle of alcohol was recovered and the man was found to be on parole for burglary.  His parole agent issued a hold after the man violated the terms of his parole.  The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
Shoplifting – 11555 San Pablo Avenue (DD’s Discounts);
 At 9:36 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had entered the store, selected merchandise, and walked out without paying for the items. 
 
Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross);
At 9:45 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had entered the store, selected merchandise, and walked out without paying for the items. 
 
March 13th
 
Grand Theft – 1600 block of Roger Ct. 
Sometime between 3/12 at 6:30 pm and 3/13 at 2 pm, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2003 Honda Accord. 
 
Vehicle Tampering – 2600 block of Yuba Street;
At 1846 hours an officer was sent to the report that someone had pried open the door lock on the victim’s vehicle however was scared off by a neighbor before they could steal anything.
