Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun and drug charges.

On March 22 at approximately 3:23 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 900 block of North Orange Street.  Police made contact with the driver, 36-year-old Joshua Jeffries, and the passenger, 30-year-old Brandon Cooper.  Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, .224 grams of heroin, 3 Naloxone strips, 7 Oxycodone pills, and 1 Alprazolam pill.  Police took both men into custody without incident.

Jeffries was charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:

• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Possession of a Firearm while also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (4 counts)

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $17,200 cash-only bail.

Cooper was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
