Traffic Stop in Wasco leads to arrest
On March 25, 2022, at approximately 6:30 a.m., deputies from the Kern County Sheriff's Office Wasco Substation, conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Martin Fernandez, a 39-year-old male from Wasco, near the intersection of North Palm Avenue and Gromer Avenue. After detaining Fernandez, deputies served a search warrant at his residence in the 900 Block of Rose Street.
During the search, deputies located a stolen vehicle, a loaded 9mm handgun found to be stolen, a loaded 9mm handgun without a serial number (commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”), a shotgun, three rifles, approximately 109 grams of methamphetamine, indicia of narcotics sales, over $3,000 dollars in United States Currency, multiple high-capacity magazines, ballistic vests, and over 1,000 rounds of live ammunition in various calibers.
Fernandez was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, felon in possession of body armor, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a residence for the purpose of narcotics sales, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a machine gun, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of loaded firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.
