 Beginning the week of __03-28-2022_, the City of Central City has contracted with Roto-Rooter to begin its annual jetting of sanitary sewer mains in the City. This will take approximately a few days to complete. This annual maintenance practice is necessary to prevent and minimize blockages and backups in our sewer system. Because of the pressures required to facilitate proper cleaning and inconsistencies in some home plumbing systems, back pressure created by this process may come up toilets, bathtub drains, and basement floor drains, causing small messes and inconveniences. If you experience any of these please report this to the Public Works Department to be placed on our list of affected homes. Another potential side effect from this process is a slight odor of sewer gas in the home. This is a result of the water being pulled from the traps in the home and can be remedied by running water in all sinks and flushing all toilets. We have a list of affected homes and do our best to notify those affected, if possible, but to be safe we ask that, should no one be home during the day, your toilet seats be put down and drains closed.
