Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred Fifty-Sixth Update, Saturday, April 2, 2022
Albany County’s COVID-19 dashboard indicated that there were 50 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 63,307 positive cases. The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases decreased from 56.1 to 54.4 cases. The number of County residents in the hospital due to COVID-19 symptoms increased by two to now 14 patients, with one patient remaining in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 538.
State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.5% of the County’s total population and 89.8% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 74.2% of the total population, and for boosters was 64.6% of the eligible population. The State’s rate for one dose was 89.6% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 76.2% for the total population, and for boosters was 56.1% of the eligible population.
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 127,702 tests Statewide were 4,046 or 3.2% positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 2.9%. The Capital Region had 4,391 tests of which 171 or 3.9% were positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 3.7%. The County had 1,163 tests of which 39 or 3.4% were positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 4.3%.
Yesterday, Governor Hochul announced that she was ending weekend COVID-19 updates. However, State DOH continues to provide daily data including the State’s positive rate yesterday for tests (3.17%), hospitalizations (837, +4), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (163), ICU patients (130, +3), intubations (54, +1), and deaths (6).
The Governor today announced eligibility for second COVID-19 vaccine booster doses at State mass vaccination sites, including the site at Crossgates Mall. State DOH issued new guidance that follows the CDC’s approval of emergency use authorization which allows adults 50 years and older to receive a second booster of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least four months after their first booster. In addition, adults aged 18 to 49 years who received the J&J vaccine for their primary vaccine and initial booster dose may receive a second booster four months after their first booster dose. State DOH guidance also states that persons 12 years and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are also eligible for second boosters.
Yesterday’s opening of registration for the Town’s summer camp had, by mid-afternoon yesterday, 359 registrations.
