INCIDENT: PC 182-Conspiracy & PC 532-Theft by False Pretense
LOCATION: Yucaipa Boulevard & Yucaipa Valley Circle, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Jessie Lopez, 20-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Samantha Turner, 20-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Destiny Reyes, 20-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Jose Diaz 30-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Ramon Tirado, 24-year-old resident of San Bernardino

SUMMARY: On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 4 ;49 p.m., Deputy A. Alcala observed Jessie Lopez, Samantha Turner, Jose Diaz, Ramon Tirado, and Destiny Reyes at the intersection of Yucaipa Boulevard and Yucaipa Valley Circle. They were all holding poster board signs requesting donations for a child’s funeral, and were holding plastic water jugs with cash donations. Prior to contacting the suspects, Alcala observed several people stop and give them cash donations for the funeral.
Alcala contacted Lopez who initially provided a false statement about the child being killed in a traffic accident in San Bernardino. At the end of the investigation, it was determined it was a scam and the suspects were collecting money for their own personal benefit. The suspects had collected over $950.00 in donations.
The suspects were arrested and booked into Central Detention Center for theft by false pretense and conspiracy to commit a crime.
