UPDATE from HCPS regarding incident at North/Apple Valley
UPDATE: Based on our continued communication and coordination with law enforcement, school will be canceled for all students at North and Apple Valley today.
North Henderson High and Apple Valley Middle students will be dismissed this morning in a 3-phase dismissal, beginning with student drivers. Attendance will be taken before students are permitted to leave campus.
Students will be required to leave campus the same way they came to school today; student drivers will drive their personal vehicles home, and bus riders will ride home.
To accurately account for each student leaving our campuses, North Henderson student drivers are not permitted to take additional students home in their personal vehicles unless they are siblings in the same household.
Phase 1 @ 9:45 a.m.: Student drivers and their siblings (at North or Apple Valley) in the same household ONLY will be the first to leave campus.
Phase 2 @ 10:30 a.m.: Student bus riders will load their normal buses, and ride their normal routes home.
Phase 3: Remaining students will be taken to a reunification location (TBD) to be united with parents/guardians. The time and location will be communicated to parents and guardians in a message later this morning.
Again, students must leave campus the same way they came to school today; student drivers will drive their personal vehicles home, and bus riders will ride home.
