El Cerrito Police Department Blotter March 25 - March 27
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
March 25th
Attempted Auto burglary – 100 block of Carmel Ave.
At midnight, an unknown suspect pried at the victim’s door handle but was unable to make entry.
Grand Theft – Walgreen’s, 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 2:35 pm, an unknown suspect entered the business, grabbed $1000 worth of Nicorette gum from the wall, and fled without paying.
Vehicle Burglary – 11780 San Pablo Avenue;
At 6:26 pm an officer went to a call of someone who broke a window of a vehicle and removed property. The crime had occurred the night before.
Vandalism – 11780 San Pablo Avenue;
At 6:26 pm an officer was sent to a call where someone had dented the victim’s vehicle. The call had occurred many hours earlier in the day.
Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Carlson Blvd;
At 11:41 pm an officer pulled a vehicle over and discovered the driver had been drinking alcohol. After an investigation the driver was arrested, booked at ECPD, and released to a sober friend.
March 26th
Brandishing – Cougar Field
At 2:50 pm, the referee ejected a player during a soccer game. The player threatened the ref with bodily harm. The ref’s son came to dad’s defense and brandished a box cutter at the player. The player and the suspect fled prior to police arrival.
March 27th
Vehicle Theft – 700 block of Colusa Ave.
Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s white 1990 Honda Civic.
March 28th
Driving Under the Influence – Fairmount Avenue at Liberty Street;
At 0124 hours an officer discovered a vehicle in the middle of the roadway that had been involved in a solo collision. The officer contacted the person who was sitting in the van who admitted to being the driver. The officer conducted a DUI investigation and the driver was arrested, booked at ECPD, and released to a sober friend.
Vandalism, Warrant arrest – AT&T, 4010 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:50 am, officers were dispatched to the business after a subject shattered the front glass window. Officers located and detained a 37-year-old Oakland man and found that he had a parole violation warrant. He was arrested for vandalism and the warrant and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Residential Burglary – 1100 block of Contra Costa Dr.
An officer reports that an unknown suspect shattered the rear sliding glass door of the victim’s residence and ransacked the interior.
