Supervisor Barber's Coronavirus (COVID-19) Seven Hundred Sixty-First Update (Thursday, April 7, 2022)
The Albany County COVID-19 dashboard reported that there were 103 new positive cases overnight in the County, which raised the County’s COVID-19 cumulative pandemic total to 63,608 positive cases. The County’s seven-day average of new daily positive cases increased from 56.8 to 64.4 cases. The number of County residents in the hospital due to COVID-19 symptoms increased by six to now 17 patients, with two patients in the ICU. The County’s pandemic death toll remained at 540.
State DOH reported that the County’s rate for one vaccine dose as of yesterday was 81.5% of the County’s total population and 89.8% of the adult population, and the County’s rate for full-vaccination was 74.3% of the total population, and for boosters was 65.3% of the eligible population. The State’s rate for one dose was 89.7% for the total population and 95.0% of adults, and the State’s rate for full-vaccination was 76.3% for the total population, and for boosters was 56.4% of the eligible population.
The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 145,684 tests Statewide were 5,874 or 3.7% positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 3.4%. The Capital Region had 6,122 tests of which 259 or 4.4% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 4.5%. The County had 1,484 tests of which 86 or 7.5% were positive, with the seven-day average increasing to 5.5%.
In her update today, Governor Hochul reported the State’s COVID-19 data, including yesterday’s positive rate for tests (3.68%), hospitalizations (948, +44), new COVID-19 hospital admissions (198), ICU patients (127, +7), intubations (56, +4), and deaths (10).
The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is hosting its Earth Day 2022 celebration on Saturday, April 23 from 9am to Noon. The public is invited to volunteer for wide-ranging conservation projects in the Preserve, with all tools and equipment provided. Registered participants will meet at their designated worksite and receive a commemorative sticker. Please remember to dress appropriately for working outside in unpredictable late spring weather, and bring plenty of water and snacks. The event will be held regardless of the weather. The NY Mets open their 2022 season tonight on the road against the Washington Nationals. And given their recent lack of success, being tied for first might be the high point of their season.
