SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORY – FLOOD EVENT
For TOWNSHIP OF PEQUANNOCK RESIDENTS

We are anticipating a minor flood event in the Township of Pequannock with significant rains that began Thursday, April 7, 2022 into Friday, April 8, 2022. Based upon the available forecast and rain that has fallen, the projected impact will be minor flooding of some roadways, with the greatest impact to be during the afternoon of Friday, April 8, 2022, around 12:00 pm/noon.
Flood Causes:
• Rainfall - 3”-3.5” most of it on Thursday night into Friday, ending early Friday morning• Saturated ground, based upon the recent impact of heavy rains
Gage Heights on the Pompton River (current & projected):
• Current gage height: 15 ft.• Current prediction: a height of approximately 17 ft. – 18 ft.(at noon Friday, 4/8/22)
Flood-Affected Areas Based on Current Prediction:
• Harrison Road, Pequannock Avenue• Route 23 Jug-handle near Alexander Avenue
• Back parking areas of Baymont Hotel/Stop & Shop
• Road flooding in the Madison/Roosevelt/Shady Street area(potentially)
Going Forward:
• The impacts of the raising water in rivers and streams, as well as saturated ground, may begin to impact the areas of above is anticipated for 6:00 am on 4/8/22. The greatest impact, cresting of the Pompton River, will be around noon 4/8/22. Impacts from flooding are then anticipated to recede later Friday (4/8/22), into Saturday (4/9/22).• Please remain alert to any changing conditions - some helpful links:
