On Sunday, April 10, 2022 at approximately 0050 hours, the Readington Township Police were dispatched to Halls Mill Rd. for a motor vehicle accident. Upon the officers arrival, they observed a vehicle down an embankement and stuck in the mud . The driver Jose Escaleira (46) out of Clark, NJ was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Escaleira was issued a summons for DWI, Refusal To Submit to Breath Test, Failure To Report an Accident, Careless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The filing of charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
