Here are reminders of two upcoming important community events. On Saturday, April 16 from 8am to 2pm, the Spring Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day and Confidential Document Shredding Event will take place at the Highway Department’s garage. Please check the website for details, including what is and what isn’t accepted for disposal. Please also help keep the Town’s cost down by not disposing of latex paint which is not considered hazardous and can be disposed of in your trash at home. The Town is charged a disposal fee for collected materials, including a hefty and avoidable cost for hauling away heavy latex paint. The Town is mindful that this day, which is set by the DEC-licensed contractor, falls during Passover and on the Easter weekend, and will offer special arrangements to dispose of this material prior to the event by calling the Transfer Station at (518) 861-6676 to arrange a drop-off.
On Saturday, April 30 from 10am to 2pm, the Police Department is holding the bi-annual Drug Enforcement Agency National Prescription Take Back Day in the Guilderland Public Library’s auxiliary parking lot. Please help prevent the accidental use or theft of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications found in homes. You can easily dispose of unwanted prescriptions (remove the label’s personal identification), over-the-counter drugs (no needles or sharp objects), and vape pens and e-cigarette devices with batteries removed. You can also dispose of pet medications.
With infection rates beginning to climb in the area, Town EMS continues to offer free COVID-19 vaccines to homebound residents. Please do not hesitate to contact EMS by calling (518) 579-3737 to discuss how EMS can deliver the vaccine.
I hope that you are having an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.
Thank you for staying safe and calm.
