| Camarillo, California. – On April 8, 2022, one person was arrested for DUI Drugs at a DUI checkpoint on April 8, 2022. The DUI checkpoint was held on Arneill Road near Ponderosa Drive from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. A total of 375 vehicles were contacted. Seven drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. Four citations were issued to drivers for various other offenses. On Ponderosa Drive near the DUI checkpoint, a motorcyclist was involved in a single vehicle collision which resulted in extensive injuries. The investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle was intoxicated at the time of the collision. The motorcyclist was arrested due to his inebriated state. This arrest was separate from the results of the DUI checkpoint. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.   |
