On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at approximately 2301 hours, Readington Township Police Officer stopped a vehicle for traveling 90 MPH on Rt. 202. The vehicle was operated by Joseph Tovar (18) of Passaic, NJ.During the motor vehicle stop, the officer noticed that Tovar had fictitious license plates on the vehicle.Tovar was placed under arrest and charged theft of movable property. In addition, Tovar was issued the following traffic summonses: Speeding, failure to wear seatbelt, operating an unregistered vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle and fictitious plates.Tovar was released from police custody pending a future court appearance. The filing of charges is a merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
