Incident Summary
 
On Friday, April 15, 2022, at approximately 8:36 pm, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Bodega Avenue for a reported traffic collision in which the involved vehicle had rolled over. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Jose Bautista Rodriguez. Rodriguez displayed objective signs of alcohol impairment. It was determined Rodriguez was driving eastbound on Bodega Avenue and lost control of his vehicle. Rodriguez’s vehicle collided with a parked vehicle before his vehicle rolled over. Rodriguez was transported to the hospital due to the severity of the collision. Rodriguez was ultimately placed under arrest for DUI. After being medically cleared at a local hospital, he was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
 
The Petaluma Police Department has been committed to increasing traffic safety and especially reducing the number of alcohol-related collisions. Petaluma Police advise motorist to plan ahead if you’re going to go out and drink alcohol, designate a sober driver or share a ride.  Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license
