The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for our area due to expected heavy rainfall this evening.  Rainfall amounts totaling 1.5" to 2" are possible overnight.  As a reminder, a flood watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding to develop.  It does not mean that flooding will definitely occur.
 
Residents living in low lying areas prone to river or stream flooding should be prepared to take action to protect their property if flooding does occur.  For those traveling tonight, be prepared for the possibility standing water in the roadway that could make driving hazardous.  More importantly, please do not drive around any cones, barricades or signs indicating a closed roadway.
 
Additional Nixle messages will be broadcast should flooding result in the closure of any roadways.
