      The Township of Ocean Police Department has designated a parking space in the east parking lot as a “Meet Up Spot”.  The “Meet Up Spot” is intended to address the safety concerns brought about with on‐line purchases from websites such as Craigslist, eBay, Facebook groups, Offer Up, classified ads, etc. 
     The Township of Ocean Police Department has no known transactions that have gone awry, however it is our commitment to always put community safety first. While we are implementing the “Meet Up Spot” to provide a safe area for buyers and sellers to meet, it is important to remember that people you meet on-line are strangers and can pose dangers. Not every buyer or seller you meet on-line is someone who is true with their intent.  One designated parking space has been clearly marked for the program where buyers and sellers can meet and make the exchange. The marked area is under 24 hour video surveillance which is recorded by surveillance cameras.    
     The Township of Ocean Police Department will not be used to make illegal transactions of narcotics, dangerous or deadly weapons or any other dangerous materials. In addition, department employees will not be used to witness or be a part of these transactions.
