Convicted Felon Arrested for Firing a Gun at a Female after he is asked to Leave Her Home

DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 14, 2022/ 6:19 a.m. 

INCIDENT:  Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Willful Discharge of a Firearm  

LOCATION: 12000 block of Kiowa Road, Apple Valley 

SUSPECT(S):  Joel Flores, a 31-year-old resident of Apple Valley 

VICTIM(S): Confidential Adult Female 

SUMMARY:  On Thursday, April 14, 2022, at approximately 6:19 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to the 12000 block of Kiowa Road to a report of a shooting.  

Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, later identified as convicted felon Joel Flores, and the victim are known to each other. Flores was visiting the victim when an argument ensued. When the victim asked Flores to leave, he became upset, pulled out a handgun, and fired several rounds at the victim. Flores fled the residence but was found by deputies a few minutes later, where he was arrested without further incident. During a search of the vehicle deputies located a loaded handgun. The victim was not injured during the incident. 

Flores was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Willful Discharge of a Firearm. He is being held in lieu of $335,000 bail. In addition to the above charges, Flores is being held on a no-bail felony warrant.
