Crime Alert Bulletin for the Week of April 11-17, 2022
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Tuesday, 04-12-22, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Officer Arguelles initiated a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima at Bellevue Avenue and Oliver Street after noticing the vehicle’s front driver side and passenger side windows were heavily tinted. After asking the suspect to exit the vehicle and having obtained consent to search the vehicle, Officer Arguelles found a gun inside a satchel. The suspect, a 33-year old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a concealed firearm within a vehicle, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and having a firearm within 1000 feet of a school.
On Wednesday, 04-13-22, between 2:21 a.m. and 2:50 a.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2003 Acura TL on the 100 block of Wembley Drive.
On Wednesday, 04-13-22, at approximately 3:09 a.m., a 57-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after being involved in a hit-and-run collision on the 600 block of Crocker Avenue.
On Thursday, 04-14-22, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Officer Aguilar, Officer Grogan, Officer Mahan, Officer L. Reyes, and Lieutenant Fox were dispatched to the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a suspect with a gun. While officers approached the south entrance, the suspect emerged from the restroom hallway and the officers observed what appeared to be a brown-colored handle of a revolver-style handgun in the suspect’s front right pants pocket, which turned out to be a foldable knife with a wooden handle that was equipped with a trigger guard and a hammer. The foldable pocketknife highly resembled the grip of a revolver. As the suspect was apprehended, a used glass methamphetamine pipe fell out of the suspect’s pants pocket. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant. After a search of the suspect’s black bag, several pieces of tinfoil containing a controlled substance were found. Officer L. Reyes also searched the bathroom and found a blue shirt on top of the ledge above the toilet. As Officer L. Reyes lifted the shirt, a piece of foil fell off the shirt and hit the ground. The foil contained a white and black residue believed to be heroin. The suspect, a 29-year old Santa Maria resident, was arrested and booked into jail for possession of unlawful paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
On Friday, 04-15-22, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Officer Kong and Officer Reininger were dispatched to the 7000 block of Mission Street on a report of two males with a knife chasing another male. The victim stated that the suspect had “slammed the door in his boss’ face” at a nearby establishment. The victim confronted the suspect. The suspect then pushed the victim into a wall while choking him. The victim was able to break free and ran away. The suspect and another subject chased the victim and the suspect then drew a knife, raised it above his head, and tried to stab the victim. The victim then entered a passing car and asked the driver to drive away. Ultimately, the driver pulled into a nearby plaza. However, the suspect and the other subject eventually caught up to them. After saying that the police were called, the suspect and the other subject fled southeast towards the back of the buildings. The suspect, a 48-year old South San Francisco resident, was found, arrested, and booked into jail for assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury.

They struggled and the victim was able to maintain possession of the umbrella. Then another unknown suspect, described as a white male, approximately 5’9” with a skinny build with shoulder-length blonde hair, and wearing a multicolor jacket and black pants, approached with a 2” knife and swung the knife at the victim. Youth Unlimited Pilot Program
In partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education, SamTrans is launching a six-month pilot program from January 1 through June 30, 2022. Known as the Youth Unlimited pilot program, it provides free SamTrans bus fares for Socioeconomically Disadvantaged (SED) students, as defined by the California Department of Education. SED students include students that are eligible for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program, students experiencing homelessness, foster-youth, migrant students, and students whose parents did not graduate high school.
The overall goals of the program are to reduce transportation costs for low-income families, attract new and more frequent riders, and understand the potential operational impacts of providing free fares to some or all youth riders.
How do I get a Youth Unlimited pass?
School districts and individual schools are responsible for distributing the passes to eligible students. Contact your school if you believe you are eligible and haven’t received a pass.
What SamTrans bus routes serve my school?

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
