PRESS RELEASE: Burglary Investigation

Incident:  Burglary Investigation

In December of 2021, the Fremont Police Department took several reports of residential burglaries in the Mission Hills area of Fremont.  The suspects would make entry into a residence by smashing the rear sliding glass door. Once inside, they would target cash, jewelry, and any safes inside of the victim’s residence. In several cases, the suspects would turn the power off to the residence prior to making entry.

Through review of surveillance footage, Fremont Police Department officers identified a newer Dodge Charger as the suspect vehicle.  The suspects were using stolen license plates in these cases to prevent law enforcement from identifying their vehicle.  In January of 2022, the Pleasanton Police Department took a similar type of burglary report involving the Dodge Charger.  Through the Pleasanton Police Department’s investigation, the suspects were associated to an address on Nichols Avenue in Fremont.  In collaboration with the Pleasanton Police Department, follow up was conducted by Fremont Police investigators regarding the address on Nichols Avenue and the potential suspects.  Hours of surveillance led to the identification of three vehicles which were identified as suspect vehicles in the residential burglary series.
On March 24, 2022, Fremont Police investigators were contacted by the Livermore Police Department who advised they just had a residential burglary involving a Dodge Charger.  Working with the Livermore Police Department, a search warrant was executed on the Nichols Avenue address on March 25, 2022.  The search warrant yielded stolen property from the Livermore residential burglary on March 24, 2022.  In addition, investigators located two semi-automatic pistols, high-capacity magazines, approximately one pound of cocaine, over twenty thousand dollars in cash, scales, and stolen jewelry.  Fremont Police investigators arrested two adults Juan Javier CruzMaldonado, age 24, a Fremont resident, and Eleazar MorenoValdivias, age 48, a Fremont resident.

  • Juan Javier CruzMaldonado was arrested and booked for felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance for sales, felony possession of stolen property, felony possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence.  He has an arraignment date of May 24, 2022, in Alameda County Superior Court Department 712

  • Eleazar MorenoValdivias was arrested and booked for one count of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.  He has an arraignment date of May 25, 2022, in Alameda County Superior Court Department 711.
